By Peter Simpson/ The Ottawa Citizen: "My favourite band from my home province, Prince Edward Island, is returning to Ottawa in November.
The North Lakes won the best alt-rock PEI Music Award for Cobra, which I included on my list of top 10 albums for 2011. Cobra is a treasure for anybody who favours the New York-punk sound of the mid-1970s. Somehow, that vibe made its way across 40 years and into the instruments of a bunch of young men in PEI.
The Charlottetown-based band released the follow-up album, Grand Prix, earlier this year."
North Lakes are a rock n’ roll band that radiate with swagger and bravado. Taking their cue from ‘60s pop and garage rock, the energetic five-piece combines vivid lyrical imagery and a colossal roar of musicality to craft punchy, concise rock records.
Grand Prix comes on the heels of North Lakes’ debut, Cobra, which earned the band a Music PEI Award for Best Alternative Album in 2011.
