JAKE SHIMABUKURO: LIFE ON FOUR STRINGS

Jake Shimabukuro plays the ukulele but not like anything ever seen or heard before in this rock documentary on the pioneering Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso who propelled this simple four-string instrument to dazzling heights. Screening preceded by a live performance by Adrianne Chan, a Toronto-based Chinese Canadian ukulele musician. Performance produced by torontoUKES & Corktown Ukulele Jam.

Following the Canadian premiere of the film, join torontoUKES & Corktown Ukulele Jam at the Monarch Festival Hub (12 Clinton St) for the Reel Asian Uke Jam, a special edition of their weekly event held Wednesdays at the Dominion on Queen. This live teach-in on the basics of ukulele technique takes place from 8:00 PM-9:30 PM and there is a suggested donation of $10, or PWYC.

At 9:30 PM, torontoUKES & Corktown Ukulele Jam program our annual live music showcase, Live on Four Strings, with a slate of performers drawn from CUJam's 1400-strong community, and headlined by Adrianne Chan. This event also takes place at the Monarch Festival Hub, and suggested cover is $10/PWYC (free for those who donated during the Reel Asian Uke Jam portion of the evening).
