Based on Makoto Shinkai’s (Your Name, Weathering with You) celebrated animated classic, this live-action adaptation traces the fragile connection between Takaki and Akari, two children who meet in elementary school and connect deeply, each finding comfort in the other’s loneliness. Akari moves away after graduation but the two reunite one snowy night under a cherry tree and promise to meet again in the same place in 2009.

Spanning adolescence to adulthood, the film explores the delicate pace at which hearts drift apart - five centimeters per second - the speed at which cherry blossom petals fall. With delicate performance and beautiful visuals, the film captures the aching beauty of love shaped by time, chance, and the spaces in between.

Starring
Hokuto Matsumura, Mitsuki Takahata, Nana Mori, Yuzu Aoki, Mai Kiryū, Aoi Miyazaki, Hidetaka Yoshioka
