Purple City Music Festival is pleased to announce its full 2022 artist lineup! Between August 26 - 28th, Edmonton will host 80+ Artists in nine venues across the city.
Daytime programming will be located in Hawrelak Park, with evening performances taking place at historic Edmonton venues including The Starlite Room, Garneau Theater (Metro Cinema) and The Freemason’s Hall.
This year's Hawrelak Headliners will feature Brooklyn based and self-proclaimed dance punks !!! ( Chk, Chk, Chk ) electrifying the dancefloors of the covered amphitheater on Saturday. Oakland garage rock revivalists Shannon & The Clams will close the outdoor stage Sunday with their own brand of psychedelic surf punk.
Hawrelak will also feature a secondary dance stage called the Purple City Picnic. This stage will be curated by local tastemakers Night Vision and female-focused Collective Dollhaus Events.
Kicking off the evening shows for the festival Friday will be a special, all-ages performance hosted by Metro Cinema from the first-ever champion of Canada’s Drag Race, Priyanka. Friday will also see the ecstatic, chaos-and-stimulation overload that is NYC’s noise rockers A Place To Bury Strangers at The Starlite Room.
Saturday will keep the party going with the Grunge inspired heaviness of Toronto buzz band Dilly Dally at the Freemasons Hall. Saturday will also feature San Francisco dream-pop staples Papercuts at Starlite.
Closing things out Sunday, The Freemason Hall will reverberate with the sound of California psyche rock troupe Death Valley Girls. Starlite will host a two-room, post-punk showcase featuring a headlining performance by L.A. goth rocker Glaare.
Wristbands and Day Passes will be available Saturday, April 23, at 12 p.m. MST. Individual tickets go on sale Friday, April 29, 12 p.m. MST.
The full festival lineup also includes: Mas Aya, Basement Revolver, Pearl Charles, Stillwaves, The Garrys, ACTORS, Petunia, Blue Moon Marquee, Vagina Witchcraft, Mitch Davis (debut edmonton performance), Michael Rault, Archaics (reunion), Sister Ray, Faith Healer, The Velvetiens, Body Lens, Ghostwoman, Motorbike James Uncanny Valley, Radiation flowers, Total Chroma, Black Mastiff, Real Sickies, plus 30 more artists.
