Closing Night Reception

The year is 2020 and the world is forced into lockdown by the COVID pandemic. Shinsaku, a young man from Tokyo, decides to work remotely and moves to the Sanriku Coast in Miyagi Prefecture, which sustained severe damage in the tsunami of 2011. Surrounded by the delicious bounty of the sea and mountains, he spends his days indulging in his favorite hobby, fishing. He rents an empty house from landlord Momoko and wins over the locals with his inherent positivity and initiative. Shinsaku discovers what makes him happiest but must also help Momoko who harbors a painful secret.

A favourite at the Tokyo International Film Festival, the film features an all-star cast and is moving, heartfelt and often very funny.

Starring: Masaki Suda, Mao Inoue, Masatoshi Nakamura, Pistol Takehara, Ken Miyake, Chizuru Ikewaki, Fumiyo Kohinata
