Please join us for an experience that goes beyond just drinking a bowl of tea. It is an art form blended with culture, philosophy and over 500 years of tradition. Discover a glimpse of the rich history and profound wisdom behind this timeless ritual. You may find harmony in the simple yet profound act of preparing tea by taking the time to slow down, reconnect, while observing the meditative beauty of Chanoyu.
We will be demonstrating the Ryurei-style: Misono-dana tea procedure. Guests will enjoy a seasonal wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) along with their bowl of usucha tea (thin tea) in a serene setting at the Sakura Room.
The volunteers demonstrating are from the J.C.C.C’s WaKeiSeiJaku – Urasenke School of Chado. They follow the Urasenke School’s Way of Tea under the instruction of Kazuko Baba, Sumiko Yamashita and Sachiko Iwata.
