ABOUT THE EVENT

Three independent bands descend on the El Mocambo to rock it to the ground, including 2023 Rocksearch finalists, Hollow Core. You won't want to miss this epic night of rock! Get your tickets now!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

2023 97.7 HTZ-FM Rocksearch Finalists. Hollow Core is an alternative metal band from Hamilton, Ontario. Flashy riffs, heavy breakdowns and theatrical vocals are what set Hollow Core apart from their metal counterparts, and their signature mix of “clean versus heavy” can be found on nearly every track. With lyrical content ranging from sociopolitical criticisms to revolutionary ballads, to “relations” with mermaids, Hollow Core is one of the most unpredictable bands in the scene.

Hailing from the Niagara/Hamilton regions of Ontario, Stone Blind brings together modern and classic rock elements to create their own unique brand of hard rock. Fronted by the infectiously energetic Jess Joy, these four rockers have spent the last few years playing shows in cities ranging from St. Catharines, Thorold, and Hamilton, to Toronto and Windsor. Each band member brings their own unique talents to the band with influences spanning decades and crossing multiple genres. Vocalist Jess Joy is a devoted fan of classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin and Guns n Roses with a vocal style that is equal parts powerful and emotional. Guitarist Eric Bauer brings an admiration of classic rock and metal with riffing and soloing reminiscent of the guitar greats of decades past. Holding down the low-end is bassist Matti Seljan VII who combines elements of punk, goth, and alternative rock to create his highly energetic brand of performance. Last but certainly not least, drummer Leo Carbone brings his love of hard-hitting rock and metal to the kit, providing the foundation upon which Stone Blind builds their sound.

Delivering power and nuance in equal measure, Welland, Ontario’s Breaking Still offers a fresh hard rock sound, with a turn-of-the-century alternative sensibility. After having spent a small handful of years playing local shows and events, including the Niagara Music Awards in 2019, fronted by founder and frontman Justin Deschamps, have solidified their lineup and a strong local following. Unified by a love of eclectic influences spanning generations, and a firm belief in music as a vessel for positive change, the group’s lineup is filled out by bassist, Nic Nello, guitarist, Cat Jones, and drummer, Mark Spags. A tight live band with as much an emphasis on ear-catching melodies as there is energy and drive, the four-piece offers a strong variety of original tunes in their set, a handful of which have been recorded for their debut studio effort, including the musically and emotionally churning lead single “No Place”.
