THE JAMES CLARK INSTITUTE:
Whether he is in the Institute or not Toronto based music artist James Clark is a doctor of pop. HIs prescription is simple, three minute blasts of medicinal music. “A wealth of songwriting talent” says renowned music writer ex-MuchMusic VJ Michael Williams in Cashbox Canada. Producer Moe Berg adds “James take the power pop traditions of the Beatles, Jellyfish and Split Enz and combines them with the high IQ lyrics of Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson. The result makes him one of Canada’s greatest unsung songwriters. The last two James Clark Institute albums “Yesterday’s Misadventures” released in 2016 and 2021’s “The Colour of Happy” were both critically acclaimed upon release. Former Creem Magazine writer, Jeffery Morgan placed “Yesterday’s Misadventures in his top ten list of the year in 2016 for NYC’s Village Voice end of year poll.
The JCI has just finished recording their most recent album with producer Moe Berg (TPOH) which will be released in the upcoming months. The band will debut a number of their new songs at the May 6th show at the Elmocambo as they prepare for another short UK tour in early June this year.
