Inspired by Yoshiharu Tsuge’s manga, the film unfolds across two settings and seasons. In summer, Nagisa, a woman from the city, meets a young man by the sea. Their empty, wandering gazes mirror each other as they trade awkward words before stepping together into the rain-soaked ocean... In winter, Li, a blocked screenwriter, travels to a snow-covered village with an old camera. She discovers a strange, desolate guesthouse run by the elusive Benzo. Their conversations rarely align, yet they drift into an unexpected journey.

Through striking landscapes, inexplicable moments of oddity, and endearing characters, the film blends humour and melancholy to capture the primal joys of journey and the quiet absurdity of being human.

The latest masterpiece by one of Japan finest filmmakers won the Golden Lion, top prize at the Locarno International Film Festival and the Kinema Jumpo Awards for Best Film and Best Actress.

Starring
Shim Eun-kyung, Yuumi Kawai, Mansaku Takada, Shiro Sano, Shinichi Tsutsumi
