Becoming Ruby is a short documentary directed by Quan Luong, produced by Lauren Grant, and part of Hot Docs’ Citizen Minutes program with support from the Manitoba Arts Council, the Winnipeg Arts Council, and Manitoba Film & Music. The film follows Ruby Chopstix, Canada’s first drag artist-in-residence, as they navigate the complexity of being an underrepresented drag performer while creating a special showcase to create space for other queer BIPOC.
