Join in a jazzy New Year's Eve party to usher in 2015 with "Aura and Friends" in style, at Palais Royale!

Artists and Program

Aura Rully (Urziceanu), renowned international vocalist and Duke Ellington’s protégée graces for the first time Palais Royale, famous location that hosted the Duke himself! What a bridge over time!

Aura has performed with Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Mel Lewis, Thad Jones and Sarah Vaughn. She’s participated in prestigious festivals and venues such as the Newport Jazz Festival, the Village Vanguard and Carnegie Hall.

Aura and her friends, well known Canadian jazz performers, will delight you with a world music / soft  jazz / rock / pop / folk  show making this party an event to remember!

Aura's electrifying show will be nicely complemented by the DJ with an exciting program!

For Live Show, Dinner and Dance: Doors open at 7 p.m., we say good night at 3 a.m.

Food and Bar

The hors d’oeuvres and the gourmet style dinner will delight you and the flair bartenders will make the cash bar an attraction in itself!

    World Jazz

    Aura's incredible voice has been stunning audiences and critics alike for over four decades. As Nat Hentoff said in his book The Grove International Encyclopedia of Jazz, "She is a phenomonel singer!"

    As well as building a formidable discography, Aura has performed extensively around the world with jazz giants - she toured the US and Japan with Quincy Jones, covered the US and Europe with Duke Ellington, and toured Scandinavia with Thad Jones and Mel Lewis (which culminated in their recording an album together with the Swedish Radio Orchestra). Her appearances include such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Newport Jazz Festival and Village Vanguard.

    She's been declared a national treasure in her native Romania (where she is known by her maiden name Aura Urziceanu) but has been based in Toronto since the early 70s with her husband, Canadian jazz drumming legend, Ron Rully.

    She continues to tour internationally as well as give master classes throughout Europe, her voice as well as her passion having grown richer with time. "Aura made as dramatic and sensational a Carnegie Hall debut as even the fevered mind of an old time Hollywood script writer could imagine… Dancing across the notes way up on the threshold of the limits of hearing, ending with a high note flourish that brought the packed house to its feet and cheering!" - John S.Wilson, New York Times

    "I have heard Aura sing up to the high B flat, above Cleo Laine's High G" - Henry Pleasants in his book The Great American Popular Singers.
