Alix Fernz
Alix Fernz
Post-Punk
Scratchy, contrasting and labyrinthine, songs from Alix Fernz venture deep into post-punk’s scalene enclave, also flirting with hypnagogic pop, resulting in a lo-fi hybrid between synthwave and alternative rock, topped with catchy yet kooky melodies. Bizou—his debut full-length released on April 19th, 2024 via Mothland—is at times immersive and vibrant, at times scathing and shrill, built upon the unlikely accord between candid inspiration and claustrophobic production. “Trading in fuzzed-out riffs and the unapologetic pursuit of raw sound, Alix Fernz is making music shot through with a DIY outsider spirit.” (The Line of Best Fit) Since his entry onto the Montreal underground scene, Fernz has shared the stage with a host of transcendent artists such as Frankie & the Witch Fingers, This Is Lorelei, Kap Bambino, Deli Girls, Omni, Edith Nylon, Slash Need, Galaxie, and Violett Pi. He has also participated in numerous significant events, including The Great Escape, SXSW, FEQ, Francos de Montréal, Fifty Lab, M for Montreal, Up Here, Project Nowhere, and FME, adding a pair of dates in London, UK. His sophomore album, Symphonie publicitaire sous influence, was released on October 17th, 2025 via Mothland.

Post-Punk
“Arty post-everything” (Cups N Cakes) group Sunglaciers’ music blurs the boundaries between polished melodicism and opaque experimentation, auspicious romanticism and unbridled dissent. Though anchored in the strange realities of our times, their songs are laced with a certain optimism through well-calculated psych elements and vibrant rhythms, making for a unique strand of kaleidoscopic proto-pop. Since forming, the four-piece have brought their intense, immersive and fast-paced live set to a number of alternative hotbeds, touring extensively in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, while also sharing the stage with the likes of No Age, Preoccupations, Chad VanGaalen, Sweeping Promises, and Omni. Following up on critically-acclaimed full-length efforts Foreign Bodies, Subterranea, and Regular Nature, the Calgary outfit now returns with Spiritual Content (March 27th, 2026 via Mothland), further exploring the chiaroscuro depths of post-punk, while also humbly setting out to redefine their sound.

SamWoy
SamWoy

To a growing group of those in the know, the name SAMWOY evokes epic and exhilarating music that bends genres and smashes through the largely humdrum Canadian music landscape. Sam Woywitka is the mastermind behind the project, which has grown to encompass a collective of some of Montreal’s most dynamic musicians. In the words of the Québécoise alt-pop visionary Virginie B: “Sam’s basically an all-encompassing hard-working pot-head music intuitive genius.”As an auteur in the mold of a Lynch or Tarantino, Woywitka’s body of work revisits recurring themes and preoccupations through shifting lenses and atmospheres. The mood often oscillates to euphoric highs, but pain is always right around the corner.
