Exclusive Toronto Pre-Theatrical Premiere Proofreader Fuyuko is an introverted person of quiet routines. Born of Christmas Eve, her annual tradition is a solitary midnight walk when only “half the world remains”. One evening, she meets Mitsutsuka, a soft-spoken physics lecturer who’s just as reticent and fastidious as she is. Soon, they start taking walks together, sitting in cafés and talking the night away – two lonely satellites briefly, tenderly brought into shared orbit... A delicate exploration of loneliness, human connection, light and hope, this Cannes Film Festival favourite is based on Mieko Kawakami’s acclaimed novel.
