E.M. Lourde is a Saint-Lucian-born, Toronto-based artist, filmmaker, and creative director whose practice is rooted in urban mythopoesis, the art of transforming everyday life into modern myth. Working across music, film, and visual storytelling, he reimagines city streets as sacred landscapes, ordinary conversations as parables, and lived experiences as folklore for a new generation. His work exists at the intersection of hip hop, cinema, and spiritual imagination, where memory, migration, faith, and survival become timeless narratives. Entirely self-produced, every release is conceived as part of a larger world, each song, film, and image revealing another chapter in an unfolding mythology, His work is deliberate, cinematic, and emotionally expansive, inviting listeners to inhabit stories rather than simply hear them. With performances across Canada, collaborations with Sportsnet, Team Canada, the Toronto Raptors, and Canadian Tire, and screen work featured in Alex Cross, Lourde continues to build a body of work that moves fluidly between music, film and culture. Through Almost Paradise, the independent studio he founded, E.M. Lourde creates enduring work that blurs the boundaries between art, memory, and myth offering an unmistakably contemporary vision of the Black diasporic experience.

Make a difference and have fun. Since I was a child my dream has been to change the world. Help humanity to evolve where we all feel welcome. Music moves us. If my music resonates, then I hope it moves us towards a life that we all dream of, for all of us, individually and as a collective. Born in Toronto, Canada to young Nigerian parents, Michael is the first of four brothers. Moving around a lot at a young age from Downtown Toronto to Scarborough, Ajax and finally Brampton, Michael grew up under the musical influence of his own curiosity, parents, cousins, church, friends and community at large. Starting out writing poetry, alone under a park tree at 8 years old, Michael evolved to writing rhymes and freestyling before entering high school. After-school recordings in bedrooms and basements soon became the norm, and by University, music became synonymous with sleep when it came to dreams. After graduating and entering the professional workforce, it became clear that music was more than just a passion. It was embedded in Michael's life purpose. Thus began the journey to evolve self and society through sound, and have fun doing it. Going by many artist names on this iterative journey of sound and self discovery, from Matrix KiDD in elementary school and high school, to MO Music, and then I AM, Michael is finally ready to step into who he is and always has been, the one: Michael Onabolu.
