Purple City Music Festival 2026 takes place September 11th - 13th in Edmonton / amiskwaciwâskahikan. Curating the newest sounds from the global underground, this diverse & inclusive festival is entirely All Ages/Licensed. Enjoy 100+ bands,over 3 days on 9 different stages, along with live wrestling and free-access music industry educational sessions. All events take place within a 2-block vicinity of the downtown core

Introduced to hip-hop through rap giants The Fugees, Calgary rapper The Blue’s music reflects a fusion of this early influence and waves of new school. He and his band bring this sound to life in a high-energy performance.
The Blue’s 2022 album Things Could Be Worse delivered upbeat, soul-fueled beats, earning him a nomination for Rap Recording of the Year at the 2023 YYC Music Awards. Known for his captivating stage presence, he has shared stages with Shad, k-os, SonReal, Dragonette, Snak the Ripper, Down With Webster, Swollen Members, and more.
Beyond his solo work, The Blue is a dynamic live performer, pushing the boundaries of his artistry while elevating Calgary hip-hop across Canada. Whether in intimate venues or on festival stages, his performances leave a lasting impact.

John From Dawson is an Anishinabeg hip-hop artist raised in Dawson City, Yukon on the Traditional Territory of the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in.With music that has been described as a mix of Mac Miller and the Bloodhound Gang, JFD uses emotional inner thoughts to create catchy hooks that keep crowds energized and engaged.JFD has performed at Dawson City Music Festival, Break Out West Showcase, Keno Festival, and Edmonton Fringe Festival, to name a few. He has opened for hip-hop artists such as Haviah Mighty, Super Duty Tough Work and Shad.After attending the Canadian Music Incubator’s Artist Entrepreneur West Program this Fall, JFD sets his sights on touring Canada and Internationally following the release of his new EP, “The All Good Man”, which will involve multiple single releases as well.JFD aims at uplifting and inspiring the youth of Yukon and beyond.

Blending hip-hop with soul, jazz, pop, and unapologetic honesty, Tea creates performances that are as emotionally resonant as they are high-energy. Raised in Zimbabwe and currently based in Calgary, KTheChosen is your Friendly Neighbourhood Rapper who creates music that is both entertaining and enlightening. K (as he is affectionately known) believes in the power of storytelling and uses his voice to share the experiences of those around him. His live show features uplifting messages and energetic freestyle jams with his band, The Knomads!
Since 2018, K has self-released several projects leading to him being named in the Herald's Top 20 Compelling Calgarians for 2022 and nominated thrice for the YYC Music Awards Rap Recording of the year (2022,2024 and 2025). He has played several festivals and conferences including Sled Island and Sound Off Summit, shared the stage with fellow Albertan artists, K-Riz, The Blue and Arlo Maverick and opened for hip hop legend,Talib Kweli at a sold out show at Dickens Pub, Calgary.
