She is stuck in a dead-end job until one day, two encounters change her life: firstly, a call for entries to the company’s internal venture contest; and secondly, her discovery of rum at the bar she always visits with her grandmother. She is captivated by its charm and learns that its key ingredient is sugarcane. Although Okinawa is full of sugarcane, no one is making agricole rum. An idea strikes her: a rum made entirely in Okinawa. What began as a simple idea grows into something much larger as Majimu’s project moves forward in surprising and unpredictable ways.
