Formed in 2012, The fin. is a band consisting of Yuto Uchino (Vo./Gt./Synth.) and Kaoru Nakazawa (Ba./Synth.).
Yuto Uchino leads the band’s creative direction, handling songwriting, recording, mixing, and production.
Their sound is defined by Yuto’s silky, smooth, and unmistakable voice, seamlessly blended with floating textures and mellow instrumentation to create a fantastical, dreamlike atmosphere. Rooted in indie and psychedelic pop while incorporating elements of soul, funk, and jazz, their gentle and soothing sound offers listeners a deep sense of calm. Paired with Yuto's introspective yet empowering lyrics—which embrace the fears that accompany growth and change—The fin. presents a uniquely immersive and aesthetic musical world.
The band has performed extensively across the UK, the United States, Europe, and Asia, appearing at major festivals including FUJI ROCK, Summer Sonic, SXSW, The Great Escape, and MaMA. Their 2023 China tour spanned more than 25 cities and attracted a total audience of over 20,000 at headline shows. In May 2025, they completed a UK tour with two sold-out London performances, followed by their first North American tour covering nine cities in July. They have also shared the stage with artists such as Phoenix, The Last Shadow Puppets, MEW, Circa Waves, and Wild Nothing.
Their discography includes the debut album Days With Uncertainty (2014), fully recorded, mixed, and produced by Yuto Uchino; the second album There (2018), co-produced with Bradley Spence (Jamiroquai, Radiohead, alt-J); the EP Wash Away (2019), co-produced by Spence and Jake Miller (Björk, Arca); and the third album Outer Ego (2021), again entirely produced by Uchino. In 2025, The fin. released Somewhere Between, their first album in four years, signaling a new phase in the band’s evolution.
