ABOUT SIMONE DENNY For Toronto-born Simone Denny, it was her rendition of Murray’s “You Needed Me” at a high school talent show that earned the then 15-year-old her first standing ovation. With a passion for performing unleashed, Ms. Denny went on to study music at Humber College in Toronto and was soon discovered by DJ-turned-producer Chris Sheppard. She was asked to join the dance group B.K.S., a partnership that resulted in the group winning both a Juno and a MuchMusic Award in 1996. After B.K.S. disbanded, Ms. Denny and Mr. Sheppard went on to form Love Inc., a group that in 1998 earned five nominations at the MuchMusic Video Awards and won three Junos. Love Inc.’s “Broken Bones” also spent eight weeks at number one on the Canadian and European charts. Ms. Denny’s skills go beyond a remarkable ability to belt out a tune. She is also a talented songwriter and was awarded a Socan Music Award for her writing efforts on “Who Do You Love.” She is currently writing and recording her sophomore album with Love Inc. * The El Mocambo is a fully accessible venue *
