Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre

6 Sakura Way, Toronto, ON M3C 1Z5

Description
Part of the Aki no Tabi event at the JCCC! More on Aki no Tabi Let's make homemade daifuku mochi from scratch! This hands-on workshop begins with a short introduction to the history of mochi and daifuku, before guiding you through making your own sweet mochi dough. While the dough steams, you'll prepare the sweet bean paste filling, then learn to wrap and shape your own daifuku. We'll finish by enjoying our freshly made daifuku together with Japanese tea — and you'll take the rest home with you! Artist Bio Born and raised in Japan, Kumi grew up enjoying Japanese sweets and tea. She learned wagashi making in Tokyo and further developed her culinary skills through professional training and experience in London, UK. After moving to Toronto in 2024, she launched Atelier Wa, sharing naturally plant-based Japanese sweets through workshops and bespoke creations. Workshop Facilitated by: Kumiko Kameda of Atelier Wa Sweets
