Behind the decks, clad in a signature soccer jersey, and surrounded by rabid fans every night, ZULAN has entrenched herself at the center of a movement. The Argentinian-American artist, producer, multi- instrumentalist, and DJ has quietly incited the fervor of an ardent audience, selling out shows on multiple continents, playing a coveted set to packed crowds at Coachella, and igniting social media.
Adopting an old school D.I.Y. approach, she not only takes the reins of her artistry as a producer, but she also personally curates every level of the live experience—down to every last detail such as choosing venues and picking the right jersey for each occasion.
With a series of 2025 singles in the pipeline, she’s primed to forever impact electronic music. “I want you to feel like you’re a part of something bigger,” she exclaims. “Whether you’re going to a live show, listening to a song, wearing your own jersey, or visiting a pop-up, you’re joining a culture and community that’s very loving, accepting, proud, and excited to welcome you.”
As a kid, she split her time between New York City and Argentina. Since Argentine school happens in the summer, she spent the bulk of the year in school. “I had no idea other kids were going to camp,” she laughs. “I was at American school in the fall and Argentine school in the summer until I found out that wasn’t normal and I protested!”
ZULAN’s father placed her in piano lessons at four-years-old. Obsessed with the instrument, she often visited her teacher up to six times per week. She later learned drums and guitar. Along the way, she listened to artists as diverse as Clairo, Frank Ocean, Billie Eilish, Tyler, The Creator, Travis Scott, and Playboi Carti. Seeking the chaos of hip-hop mosh pits, she attended as many live shows as possible, even making a yearly tradition of going to Yams Day alone.
This spirit underscored her own passion.
“Hip-hop was always really important to me,” she notes. “I loved the manic rowdiness. The people were so hype. I was definitely attracted to this aspect of the rap scene.”
Taking a course on Vinyl Mixing and Music Production, she devoted countless hours to learning how to cook up beats and create songs. Eventually, she started to DJ in order to share her own music with the world. She grinded by spinning at clubs and frat parties, yet she found herself constricted by music and playlist requirements from venue proprietors.
So, ZULAN took matters into her own hands. She saved up money, rented out a venue, and headlined her debut headline show in New York during September 2023, inviting people via DM. It promptly sold out and set the stage for a Los Angeles gig.
“It was a lightning-in-a-bottle moment,” she recalls. “I continued the model of picking venues and making them my own for the night. I never looked back.”
Viral clips of the West Coast show surged on social media, and she intentionally chose Argentina as the site of her third performance. Returning to the States, a particularly wild performance at a sold-out church in L.A. led to her taking her career to the next level.
Given her family’s collective love for soccer, she opted to don a Lionel Messi jersey during shows and unassumingly established a signature identity as a performer.
“I was nervous for one of the shows,” she reveals. “I had worn my Messi jersey during three of Argentina’s World Cup victories, so I thought, ‘If I wear that, nothing can go wrong’. It turns out I was right,” she laughs. “I just never expected other people to show up repping their countries and teams, which is so cool.”
ZULAN introduces her sonic vision with the debut single “Forever.” It reinvents, reimagines, and recharges Clairo’s “4EVER” as a nocturnal dancefloor anthem teeming with emotion and energy in equal measure. She layers the original vocal over a pulsating bassline and hypnotic beat. Clairo even endorsed a live video of the track.
“In high school, I was obsessed with Clairo’s ‘4EVER’,” she says. “I always thought the bassline would be cool in the dance space. The lyrics resonate with me a lot too. Since I was inspired by her, all of the stars beautifully aligned with the single. I’m trying to bridge the gap between emotional songs and the high-energy dance world.”
“I care about making music that demands attention,” she leaves off. “It’s not something you just play in the background. If it’s on, you’re tuned in and listening. This isn’t about me; it’s about the people who support it.”
