ABOUT THE EVENT
Toronto indie/alternative rock act Havens release their debut album "Fairy Tales" with what is sure to be an unforgettable celebration of rock and roll at the city's famed El Mocambo. Joined by fellow local bands Goddess, Linebeck and Cassidy Taylor, Havens will headline with a setlist performing the album in its entirety plus a selection of their other fan-favourites.
Havens is the moniker of Toronto indie/alternative singer, songwriter and guitarist Andrew Beg. Inspired by ‘80s alt bands such as The Smiths, The Cure, INXS, and The Cult as well as 2000s indie like The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and White Lies, Havens draws on a rich tapestry of influences to develop his signature brand of alternative rock. Havens' debut EP, Daybreak released in 2017 to positive reviews and led to collaborations in 2018 with producer Ian Madden and Juno Award-winning drummer Tim Oxford on his three singles, Peace in Darkness, Fall and Taking Me Away. 'Fall' was highlighted by radio legend Alan Cross in his feature '5 Songs You Must Hear This Week'. Havens has continued to put out a steady stream of music since then; including the 2022 singles Recoil and If Tonight; which have both seen success online. Havens has appeared on notable media outlets including The Morning Show on Global News, CHCH, SiriusXM CanadaTalks, 102.1 The Edge, Humble & Fred Radio, What She Said Radio, 101.5 The Hawk, Spill Magazine, Disarm Magazine and Canadian Beats. In 2018, Havens performed at Radical Road Show, a Toronto festival headlined by iconic Canadian band, Skydiggers. In 2023, Havens opened up for Sam Roberts Band at the Montreal Grand Prix Festival. Havens has also performed at Toronto’s best venues including Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace, The Rivoli, Sneaky Dee’s, and sold-out headlining shows at Drake Underground in 2022 and Gladstone Hotel in 2017. The debut Havens album "Fairy Tales" will release on March 1st, 2024.
