Oreku is a producer, DJ, and co-owner of Toronto-based label Stereo Ferment, crafting a sound rooted in the cultural intersections of dance music. With a deep appreciation for tropical disco, psych funk, house, techno, jazz and leftfield club sounds, Oreku’s genre-fluid sets aim to surprise and energise dancefloors with unexpected twists.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, now based in Toronto, Oreku (aka Cayden Mowbray) has released two EPs and several singles, earning support from a global network of DJs and tastemakers, with regular airplay on PBS 106.7, Worldwide FM, Netil Radio, Soho Radio, NTS, and BBC Radio.
Passionately involved in Toronto’s outsider art and music scene, Oreku produces music, curates local events, and runs Stereo Ferment with a hands-on, DIY ethos, supporting a growing community of artists and dancers drawn to offbeat sounds and independent culture.
Over recent years, he has toured across North America, Central America, and Australia, performing at clubs and festivals, and sharing stages with artists like Aroop Roy, Dan Shake, Desiree, Ghetto Kumbé, Altin Gün, Dauwd, Habibi Funk, Dana Ruh, and Eli Escobar.
